CHILDREN will be rushing to the Haydon Centre this week as they make the most of the activities on offer.

The Hi5 Holiday Camp, run by Swindon Council, is back again during this half term week, and every day between 8.30am and 5.30pm until Friday children can play in a safe and secure environment.

Helen Smith, one of the core members of staff who work with the children at Hi5, said: “We have been going for a long time, at least 20 years, and we have really friendly staff who have a great rapport with the children, meaning we are a great

place to take your children.”

Hi5 is specially tailored to provide quality childcare for parents who cannot get the school holidays off work and need somewhere for their children to be looked after. Helen said: “We provide child care specifically when parents need to work.

“A lot of parents need to work these days, and not everyone is lucky enough to have work in school hours, so people need somewhere safe where they can leave their children when there isn’t any school.”

This week children can enjoy a range of different activities every day, from team and ball games, such as football, short tennis, basketball to trampolining and a bouncy castle, to taking part in quizzes and enjoying electronic games, music and dance and arts and craft.

Helen said: “This week our theme is Beauty And The Beast, and we have been doing lots of things around that theme.

“The children have been using clay modelling to make the little teapot from Beauty And The Beast and they will also be making the candelabra. “There will also be an arts and crafts session and on Friday there will be a cheerleading session for an hour or so.”

Hi5 is registered with Ofsted and encompasses the criteria laid down in its guidelines. All staff have undergone in-house training courses on child protection and welfare and staff have also been cleared by the Criminal Records Bureau to work with children.

The camp is suitable for children aged between four and 12, with activities specially tailored to each youngster. Each day costs £22.50 for those with a Leisure In Swindon card and £40.50 for those without a card.

A registration form must be completed before children can enrol. For information about the camp call 01793 706666.
