Royal Wootton Bassett Theatre celebrated its move from the High Street to its new premises in The Angel Hotel over the weekend.

A grand opening on Saturday saw the theatre dressed up in all its finery for two performances of the musical Spring Awakening by the Young Actors’ Company.

Guests also enjoyed a lunch or dinner in the Angel, and had a chance to meet the Wootton Bassett Theatre artistic team before and after the show.

Despite moving premises, the theatre promises to maintain its resident professional companies Too Close For Comfort, Whoopee Doo Productions, the Young Actors’ Company and the successful Youth Theatre teaching programme.

The theatre will also continue to welcome other professional artists and touring productions.

Some weeks ago the theatre announced it would be moving premises.

In a message on its website it said: “Wootton Bassett Theatre is thrilled to announce that after four wonderful and successful years running WBT from a site at the Red Lion, we will soon be launching Wootton Bassett Theatre upstairs at the Angel.

“Over the forthcoming weeks we will be announcing details of the 2014/15 professional season, continued programme of classes and auditions for our successful young actors company.”
