SWINDON man George Alexander Coogan Bright died after falling from the balcony of a Thailand hotel.

Mr Bright, 24, plummeted from a room near the top of the Pattaya Hilton Hotel, landing on a second floor balcony.

The incident happened on Thursday.

Ambulance crews were called to the hotel, based above the Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping centre, but Mr Bright was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to the Banglamung Hospital based in the city of Pattaya.

Police in Thailand are currently investigating the circumstances leading up to Mr Bright’s death.

His family have been informed and the British Embassy, based in the Thai capital Bangkok, is working with them to provide as much assistance and support as they can.

It is unknown at present whether Mr Bright was in Thailand on holiday, but the Pattaya Beach resort is seen as a popular destination for travellers and tourists.

David Ray, originally from Swindon, who now lives in Bangkok, informed the Adver of Mr Bright’s death after reading it on an ex-pats’ website, Pattaya One.

He said: “I didn’t know him but being from Swindon originally and still having family in Swindon I was shocked at this news.”

Following the news of Mr Bright’s death, tributes have been left on the website .

“What a horror story for the parents and family of this young guy,” Siam Frysian said.

“To the parents and family, we wish you the strength and courage you will need to cope with this horrendous loss. May George rest in peace.”
