STUDENT Lewis Rogers won the chance to rub shoulders with some greats of the big screen thanks to an education charity.

Lewis chatted to Harry Potter and Hunger Games actor Toby Jones for education charity Into Film, which enables young people to learn about film and sets them on a possible career path.

Lewis, 20, who studied animation at Isambard Community School and now attends the University of Bristol, started his journey as an Into Film Reporter when he was selected to be a member of the charity’s Talent Development Programme in 2010.

As part of the programme, he has had the chance to rub shoulders with celebrities of the big screen on the red carpet, and interview some of the film industry’s biggest stars. Other assignments ncluded interviewing Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jason Isaacs and Nick Moran at the premieres for Paul and The Kid.

Now into his third year as an Into Film Reporter, Lewis said he was pleased with how his interview with Toby went. “I feel that I improve with every interview, and it was a thrill to talk to an actor whose work I admire,” he said. “I watched the film last week, so I felt I had lots to talk to Toby about.”

He added: “Being an Into Film Reporter has been a fantastic opportunity, and has made me a much more confident person.

“Reporting at film premieres is not an easy job as it involves plenty of research and planning along with thinking on your feet.

“But the opportunity to meet people I admire is something I’m really grateful to Into Film for providing.”

As a keen animator, Lewis also got the chance to attend the Cars 2 press conference and meet one of his heroes, the Pixar chief creative officer John Lasseter.
