Former Gazette reporter Lewis Cowen raised nearly £800 for Dorothy House Hospice Care with his one-man show at Devizes Books on Friday and Saturday.
Include Me Out, about Hollywood mogul Samuel Goldwyn, played to audiences of around 50 each night in the gallery on the first floor of the Sidmouth Street shop.
With tickets at £6, plus donations from the audience, Mr Cowen was able to send a cheque for £789 to the hospice.
He said: “I lost my wife to cancer last year and the support I had from Dorothy House was amazing.
“I wanted to pay them back somehow and I felt this was the best way of doing it.”
The play depicts Goldwyn talking to a psychiatrist about his life as a refugee from Poland and his role in creating a Hollywood empire.
He will reprise his performance at Marden House in Calne on July 17 at 7.30pm. To book, call 07976 426457.
