Trowbridge company Hitachi Capital Commercial Vehicle Solutions has moved into its new purpose-built £7 million office campus and specialist Vehicle Preparation Centre on the White Horse Business Park.

The company moved into Hakuba House, which translates directly from the Japanese for white horse, on May 27, after construction work finished ahead of schedule just under a year after it started. Hakuba House is the very first building that Hitachi Capital, a global corporation, owns the freehold for anywhere in the world.

The commercial vehicle funding and management specialist currently employs over 140 staff members who manage almost 30,000 vehicles. The previous premises, situated in Canal Road, Trowbridge, housed the business for 13 years and were originally designed for just 30 staff, managing 717 vehicles.

Managing director Jon Lawes said: “It was becoming clear that we had outgrown our previous buildings and it was time to find more suitable premises that would allow us to continue to meet the growing and diverse needs of our customers.

“In 2011 we made the decision to undertake the search for a new site that would not only allow us to support the future needs of our customers, but would also provide a fantastic working environment for our employees.

“We are delighted that we have now finally succeeded in moving into our new building on the White Horse Business Park.”

Designed by Nash Part-nership, a Bath based firm of architects, and delivered by Midas Construction, the new building is visually attractive in a modern style, yet sympathetic and sensitive to the environment.

The new office campus includes a wide range of green features, focusing on reducing C02 emissions by 28 per cent above Building Regulations standards, as well as successfully achieving the BREEAM ‘Very Good’ Standard.
