Groups and organisations in Bishops Cannings have got together to organise a ten-day parish festival.

Starting tomorrow, the festival includes chariot racing, a young people’s concert, a quiz night and ends on June 15 with a farm festival and family dog show.

Other events include a quarter peal of bells at St Mary’s Church on Tuesday. The church will also host an art, craft and photography exhibition from Tuesday to Saturday,June 14 and the primary school’s annual summer fair on the Saturday will have a Rio Carnival theme with a fancy dress parade and samba band workshops.

The farm festival, on Sunday, June 15, at Horton House Farm, includes a pet service, fun family dog show, birds of prey flying display, Morris dancing and a Bishops Cannings bake off.

Elizabeth Frearson, a member of the organising committee, said: “The aim is to have fun and raise a bit of cash for all the local activity groups. It’s the first time we have done it.”
