A conference to remember

A CONFERENCE at all practitioners with an interest in how memory affects learning is being held later this month.

The Swindon Dyslexia - Specific Learning Difficulties Service (SpLD) is holding its fourth annual conference on June 20 at the Blunsdon House Hotel. The dyslexia service raises awareness and understanding of dyslexia with teachers, teaching assistants, students and their parents by delivering training courses.

This year’s conference theme is ‘Unlocking Memory’ and leading expert, Professor Susan Gathercole, will present the keynote speech. Professor Gathercole is the Director of the Medical Research Council Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit in Cambridge.

A range of exhibitors will be present displaying resources to support the dyslexic learner.

The cost of the day is £90 per delegate, including speakers, three choices from the 12 workshops, lunch and refreshments.

The conference is an opportunity to gain an insight into up-to-date research on how memory impacts learners, how memory is measured and practical advice on how to support children in the learning environment.
