LACOCK’S newly-refurbished Fox Talbot museum had an extra visitor when the Culture Minister stopped by on a tour of the region.

Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate Michelle Donelan showed Sajid Javid round the museum, which honours the photography pioneer and former Lacock Abbey owner William Fox Talbot.

Miss Donelan said: “He has already been to Lacock a couple of times as he is from Bristol and knows the area, but he loved the museum, as he hadn’t been there before.”

The museum was renovated in March as part of the 175th anniversary celebrations of Fox Talbot inventing the photographic negative.

The current anniversary event at the Abbey is a display of artworks by Fox Talbot’s daughters in the historic cloisters, which runs until July 6.
