More than 200 Brownies from Chippenham, Calne, Marlborough and Royal Wootton Bassett used their sense of adventure to gain a badge marking their 100th anniversary.

The girls applied team work and determination to complete ten activities, gaining them the third of four county badges at an event called ‘Blast’.

The girls took part in cheerleading, climbing, ‘it’s a knockout’-style contests and canoeing on the canal in Witchelstowe in Swindon.

Heather Scoynes, county water advisor, said: “The Wilts & Berks canal provided the perfect opportunity to incorporate the 100-mile paddle challenge, giving each Brownie a chance to paddle one mile to add to the tally “.

Circus skills had the girls in a spin, learning tricks to control the diablo and spinning plates on a stick.
