A farm festival and family dog show rounded off a successful 10-day parish festival in Bishops Cannings.

Visitors to the final event on Sunday at Horton House Farm met animals, went on tractor rides and enjoyed other entertainment, including Morris dancing, a dog show and a birds of prey flying display.

Elizabeth Frearson, a member of the organising committee, said: “It was a fantastic day and the festival achieved its aim of integrating people of all walks of life and ages and having fun together.

“People said they met people they didn’t know existed and have made friends and they feel part of a community.

“It was such a success, we would like it to be a biennial event.”

Other events held during the festival included a barn dance attended by more than 200 people, a garden party at the Crown Inn, chariot racing at the New Inn, Coate, plus an art, craft and photography exhibition at St Mary’s Church, Bishops Cannings.
