Supermarket worker Pauline Cockings has been nominated as Sainsbury’s Devizes community champion for her fundraising efforts.

Mrs Cockings, 60, raised £4,660 for charities, including some supported by the store, by running marathons and half-marathons.

Colleagues nominated her as their champion and she will compete with others in the region for the title.

Mrs Cockings, who works on the deli counter and has been with the store for ten years, has collected money since 2007 for Devizes and District Opportunity Centre, CLIC Sargent, Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Contact a Family and PHAB.

She got the running bug after a Race for Life in 2003 and has now done two London Marathons and halfs including Chippenham.

She said: “Customers are very good in supporting me.”
