A recovering Corsham heroin user stole DVDs to fund her habit, a court has heard.
Emma Rose Chapman, 22, of Beechfield Road, appeared before magistrates in Chippenham last Thursday and admitted stealing £94.94 worth of DVDs from Sainsbury’s in Melksham on May 23.
They included copies of the films Frozen and Mandela. She asked for two thefts of Special Brew from the Corsham Co-op, on April 24 and May 21, to be taken into consideration.
The court heard the former university student had given up a job as a care worker following a difficult break-up and hoped to sell the DVDs to fund her heroin habit. The mother-of-one had since contacted drugs charity Turning Point and was working to turn her life around.
She was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £83.40.
