he savage Skills Mountain Bike Display Team was this year’s star attraction at the Warminster Wobble, which attracted more than 2,000 people to the town park at the weekend.

The three riders leapt from platform to platform, rode down scaffolding pipes and performed feats of riding skill for onlookers at the annual celebration of all things cycling.

In the skate park professional mountain bike rider Chris Smith held a freestyle trick session for children.

Other events included a Mountain Bike Time Trial, the Wattenator, which measures a cyclist’s power output over a two-minute period, a graffiti wall and new event, the Toddle Wobble which gave toddlers a chance to ride a range of balance bikes which help youngsters gain confidence on two wheels. There were also stalls displaying a range of bicycle-related goodies, and a number of organised road and off-road rides took place on Sunday.

Joe Palmer, 14, from Frome won the Under-18 Mountain bike Time Trial. He said: “I love mountain biking and, with all the trails and bridleways around here, it is a fantastic location for off-road riding.

“I am really pleased to have won the time trial this year.”

Chairman of the Warminster Wobble Colin French said: “It really feels like the Wobble has come of age.
