Devizes Farmers' Market, which runs on the first Saturday of each month, is expanding thanks to funding from the Area Board.

Inspired by support from Wiltshire Council's board - and backed by Devizes Town Council - Wiltshire Farmers' Markets Association is adding an extra market which will run on the third Saturday of the month from July 19.

The market regularly has over 20 stalls with a good range of local products offered by the people who grow, rear or make them.

Regular products include freshly picked, conventionally grown and organic vegetables, salad, meat cuts and prepared products, cheeses from cow, ewe and goat milk, breads, cakes, pastries, pies, rape seed oils and dressings, trout, Sicilian olive oil direct from the producer, preserves, pickles, olives in local marinades, fudge, chilli sauces, smoked products, ciders, beers and locally crafted wooden garden items.

The extra market will have many of the existing producers but is also an opportunity to introduce some new ones giving a different offering but with the same level of variety, quality and traceability.

Mayor of Devizes, Councillor Sarah Bridewell, will launch the additional market at 11am on July 19.

Richard Rogers, Community Area Manager for Devizes, said: “Devizes Area Board is committed to helping make Devizes town centre a vibrant place.

We are therefore delighted to be able to support the expansion of the farmers market which contributes to the local economy, brings people into the market place and connects them with the producers of their food”

Both the Devizes Farmers' Market on the first Saturday of each month the third Saturday of the month will run from 9am-1pm.
