THE son of a man who was repeatedly stabbed after he left work has paid tribute to his father.

Aulton Thomas Rogers, known as Tom, was found dead on a cycle path 100 yards from Swindon railway station on Thursday night.

Wiltshire Police said Mr Rogers, 60, was the victim of an "extremely vicious attack".

His son, David, 35, paid tribute to a "sociable and well liked" man and appealed for anyone with information about his father's death to come forward.

"Dad was sociable and well liked. He worked hard at the pub and I would often meet him there," Mr Rogers said.

"It hasn't sunk in that my Dad is gone and that I won't be able to spend time with him anymore. I really feel his loss and will always miss my Dad.

"I would like anybody who knows anything about what happened to my Dad to please call the police."

Mr Rogers, who worked at the Woodlands Edge pub, suffered multiple stab wounds in the motiveless attack.

A bicycle was found close to the scene and police are urging members of the public to be vigilant for their personal safety.

Police said Mr Rogers left the pub shortly before 10.30 pm on Thursday night and was found shortly before midnight.
