A new venue for Lavington School’s prom was enjoyed by the students and staff.

The Year 11 prom was held at Erlestoke Golf Club on Friday night attended by about 125 students.

Sarah Thompson, drama teacher and Year 11 pastoral leader, said: “We wanted somewhere local and a driveway big enough for our students to arrive and it has a lovely outlook over the golf course.

“It had a bigger dance floor and everyone was able to dance and the students stayed together enjoying the evening. We felt it worked really well.”

The students arrived on a variety of transport. Tractors were a popular choice but more unusual modes included Xanthe Thompson in a wheelbarrow, Josh Parkes on a steam engine, Jed Kirkwood on a lorry and Joe Hurley on a mobility scooter.

Most of the girls wore long dresses and the boys mostly in suits and ties.

After their grand arrival the students had a free non-alocholic cocktail at the bar followed by a speech by Mrs Thompson, a disco, official photographs and a buffet.

Mrs Thompson said: “It was a really lovely happy evening. The students were well behaved. They have been a lovely year group and great ambassadors for Lavington School. For some, the prom was their final goodbye to each other.”
