Sixthformer Edward Mayhew and Charlotte Holland put their friends in a whirl when they arrived at Malmesbury School's Year 13 prom in a helicopter.

The two landed in style at Cricklade House Hotel on Friday evening but plenty of other students also pulled out the stops to stop the traffic with their mode of transport.

A number chose classic cars to compliment their style of long dresses for the girls and black ties for the boys.

Assistant head of sixth form Matt Bryant said: “It was a well-deserved celebration and the superb organisation by the Prom committee was a reflection of what a fantastic group of young adults they are.

"The evening kicked off in beautiful sunshine with students arriving in style from classic cars to helicopters.”

A number of teachers joined in the celebration as the students took the chance to reminisce and discuss future plans as they mingled in the sunshine.

Later the guests enjoyed a sit down meal and listed to a number of heart felt emotional speeches by the students.

They then let down their hair with a disco and many took selfies to remember the evening and their friends.

Mr Bryant said: “The night was a great success and all the students were impeccable and polite, as they always are. A fantastic evening.

"We truly wish all the students the best of luck in the future."
