The family of Devizes mum Natasha Goode have paid tribute to her and described her as an inspiration after she lost her courageous battle with cancer.

Mrs Goode, nee Barkham, 28, died at home just over two weeks after she married her husband Stewart at the Royal United Hospital’s chapel. She has a son, Tyler, aged eight.

Mr Goode, 38, said of the wedding: “Natasha had a good day.

“She walked down the aisle unaided with her father – that was her main objective and she did it.”

About 40 family and friends celebrated the wedding on June 6.

The following day Mrs Goode returned to her home in Silverlands, Rowde. She died on June 23.

She and Mr Goode met when they worked at B&Q in Devizes in about September 2012.

Mr Goode said it was love at first sight and he knew he would marry her one day. They became a couple but on August 9 last year she was diagnosed with lymphoma and underwent various treatment including chemotherapy.

They got engaged a few weeks after the diagnosis and thought the wedding would be in a few years’ time but they brought the wedding forward to last month when Mrs Goode’s health deteriorated.

Mr Goode, who works at Screwfix in Devizes, said: “I just feel blessed, privileged and honoured to have known Natasha.

“She was so brave and caring for everybody. She was a fantastic mum, wife, friend, confidante and daughter.

“She was an inspiration. No matter how hard life gets, never give up.

“She was bubbly and had a smile to die for.

“B&Q were extremely good to her with time off work and she enjoyed working there.

“She will always be loved and missed dearly.”

Mrs Goode was born and brought up in Devizes and went to Bishops Cannings Primary School and St Augustine’s School, Trowbridge.

She has a younger brother, Stefan, and her parents, Dougie and Elizabeth, of Ferozeshah Road, said she was a wonderful daughter who had many friends.

Mr Barkham, 57, a builder, said: “Natasha never moaned. We had some beautiful times with her.

“She adored her son and liked to be with her friends and family.

“She had a good short life, too short in our opinion.”

The family thanked the staff at the William Budd ward at the RUH where Mrs Goode was treated.

Mrs Goode’s funeral service is on Friday, July 11, at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, St Joseph’s Place, Devizes, at 11am.
