Devizes MP Claire Perry has welcomed this week’s announcement of almost £3m of Government funding to support higher education and local employment training for Armed Forces service leavers and other local workers.

The money has been allocated as part of a larger package of investment totalling £130m in Swindon and Wiltshire, awarded to our local Swindon and Wiltshire Local Economic Partnership (LEP) as part of the Government’s Growth Deals.

Mrs Perry said: "I am especially pleased that within the large amount of new money being invested in Wiltshire, there is a smaller pot set aside to help those leaving the Armed Forces to get the skills and training they need to secure appropriate jobs on Civvy Street.

"Along with the hard-working team at the LEP, I have been campaigning in Westminster and locally for this Skills Brokerage money to help solve the problem of people leaving the Armed Forces without appropriate qualifications or training for jobs in the private sector.

"With this new investment we should see more support, more training and ultimately more job successes for those making the transition from a military to a civilian career."
