Wiltshire Council’s Strategic Planning Committee will decide this morning whether to give the go-ahead to controversial plans for a 35-acre business park in Hawkeridge which could create 1,400 jobs.
Land at Mill Lane, opposite the entrance to the West Wilts Trading Estate, has been previously identified within the Draft Core Strategy for employment use by Bath-based developers HPH Ltd.
Campaigners from the Hawkeridge Action Group believe the park will overshadow the village and country homes, including a Grade II listed farm.
They also fear the development will cause traffic congestions, increased noise and traffic pollution.
The developers say the park could create more than 1,400 jobs.
