Bradford on Avon Town Council has invited relatives of those named on the town’s war memorial in Westbury Gardens to come to its rededication on Sunday, August 3, at 3pm.
Mayor Cllr John Potter said: “We want to pay tribute to those who gave their lives for the country.
“We have tried to let relatives of those men know about this event and hope to welcome some of them on the day.”
Also attending will be representatives of the town’s churches, schools, French and German twinning groups, Royal British Legion, Scouting and Girl Guide groups and Army Cadets.
More than 600 local men served in the war and 163 of them were killed – 125 of the names appear on the memorial. The remainder appear on a roll of honour which will be displayed in St Margaret’s Hall after the ceremony.
Anyone who believes that their relative could be on the memorial can check by contacting the council on 01225 864240.
