SCHOOLS in North Wiltshire will benefit from a funding increase following a Government announcement last week.
Some schools in some of the least fairly funded local areas in the country will benefit from a £390m cash boost in the biggest step towards fairer schools funding in a decade.
The schools budget in Wiltshire will increase by £5.7m, making a real difference to children in North Wiltshire, with funding increased by £97 per pupil.
The MP for North Wiltshire, James Gray, was delighted with the news.
He said: ““Children in North Wiltshire deserve the very best schools so they can gain the skills they need to get on in life.
“Labour failed to address the unfairness in our funding system which meant that our local schools haven’t received the funding they deserved.
“That’s why I welcome this cash boost. It means our schools will get the resources they are entitled to and will help improve the quality of education for all children in North Wiltshire.”
“This new money is part of our long-term economic plan to help all young people to have the best schools and skills so that they can succeed in life.”
