THE Cabinet agreed on Wednesday night to move forward with a consultation on the future of children’s centres.
Last week it emerged plans are being proposed which could see more than half of the facilities close as the council looks to save £770,000.
Starting next week, users of the centres, parents and those with an interest will be asked to give their thoughts on the proposal.
It also emerged at the meeting a charity and several children’s centres have also come forward to discuss ways of continuing services without the funding.
The council has to find £48 million savings within the next three years but opponents to the plan say the wrong area is being targeted in the cuts.
The consultation will start on July 29 and last until the start of October.
