Eleven fire crews were called to tackle a major field fire on Salisbury Plain this afternoon.
Nine pumping appliances, one water carrier and a control unit attended a large field in Rollestone, near Shrewton, measuring approximately 300 by 400 metres earlier today.
The incident involved a multi agency response involving Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, Wiltshire Police, Army, Boscombe Down MOD and Ambulance service.
At 5pm crews were still in attendance and dealing with the incident, but had reduced the number of appliances to three pumps, a water carrier and a control unit.
Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service would like to remind the public about increased fire risks in dry windy conditions.
