STUDENTS from Year 9 at Maltravers School, Westbury, spent a day designing aeroplanes, code breaking and building robots to get them thinking about a career in engineering.
They competed in a robot wars event for the title of Arena Champion.
Flight Lieutenant, Chris Skilton, RAF, helped out as a science, technology, engineering and mathematics network ambassador.
He said: “It has been great to see all the children getting involved with engineering.”
Student Keola White said: “The day has made me realise that there is more to engineering than fixing cars and stuff.”
Phillipa Denham, science and maths teacher at the school, said: “It showed students how science relates to objects they use every day.”
Airbus and Learning by Design sponsored the event.
