First World War centenary: Codford's weekend of events
Military enactments from the Great War Society will be just one of the attractions this weekend to mark the centenary of the First World War at Codford Village Hall and field.
The society, under the guise of the Fourth Battalion, Middlesex Regiment will give demonstrations of camp activities. Other displays include a trench with artefacts and a 1915 Daimler Army lorry.
The free weekend will be officially opened by General Sir Roger Wheeler at 11am tomorrow as part of the commemorations planned by the Wylye Valley 1914 Project.
In the village hall there will be a number of attractions including a documentary showing the history of the British Expeditionary Force.
On Sunday at 3.30pm there will be a ‘Drumhead Service’ with the Royal British Legion standards, Salisbury City Band of the Royal British Legion and Warminster Military Wives choir.
The event runs on Saturday, 10am-5pm, and Sunday, 10am-4.30pm. See www.wylyevalley1914.org.uk
