Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a 54-year-old Wiltshire woman died when her car was hit by a lorry on the A303 at Mere, south of Warminster, yesterday.
The incident took place just before 1pm at the A303 Mere Bypass on the eastbound carriageway.
Her broken-down Mazda MX5 was stationary in the inside lane and was struck from behind by the articulated lorry, which was travelling east.
She died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
The lorry driver, a 51-year-old man from Devon, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
The A303 eastbound was closed for more than eight hours while the scene was examined and the vehicles removed.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
