CHILDREN can enjoy fun-packed activities at STEAM – Museum of the Great Western Railway – for just £1 during the summer holidays.

From climbing aboard famous locomotives, driving the train simulator, and being a signalman for the day, to following the new Summer Detective Trail and having a go on the Seaside Pier vintage slot machines, there’s plenty to do for all ages.

In a special deal, children aged between three and 16 can visit for £1 when accompanied by a full-paying adult – any day until August 31.

To take up the offer, visitors need to print off and complete the Kids for a Quid voucher from www.steam-museum.

org.uk before they arrive at the museum.

Coun Garry Perkins, cabinet member for the economy, regeneration and skills, who is also responsible for STEAM, said: “Children need never be bored with the STEAM Museum on their doorstep.

“The Summer Detective Trail gives children the chance to find out about all kinds of holidays as they explore the museum.

“There’s so much to see and do at the museum and the Kids for a Quid offer gives terrific value for a great family day out.”

STEAM is also holding two Meet the Railway Workers events, on Saturdays, August 9 and 23, when visitors can hear fascinating facts from inside the cab of GWR No. 4073 Caerphilly Castle.
