DIGGERS have moved on to the site at Tadpole Farm where a new primary school is to be built.

The school was scheduled to be ready in September but due to delays in building an access road to the site it was put back a year.

As a result the school will be housed for its first year in a community centre being built in Redhouse.

Work on the access road is now nearing completion which means building of the 1,400 house development could soon start.

The building of the primary school was brought forward to help deal with the excess demand for places in North Swindon. As part of that agreement, developers Crest Nicholson were able to build a number of show homes.

A spokeswoman said: “Work on the access road is under way, with a view to the first sections coming into use from the autumn. As a result the council have been able to move on to the site this week “We started work on its first show home for Tadpole Garden Village and this is due to open to the public this autumn.”
