Headteacher Mike Gunston is delighted with John of Gaunt School pupils' GCSE results.

He said: "We have some excellent results once again this year with 57% achieving C or better in English and 58% achieving C or better in maths.

“We are delighted with the numbers achieving the very highest grades, in particular, Hana Fox who achieved eight A*s and one A, Kaya Isaac who gained seven A*s and two A’s and Cameron Barry who received six A*s, one A and two B’s.

“Of course, we should like to thank the pupils and our supportive parents for their hard work and and our staff for their ongoing commitment".

Among the other stand out results was Katie Rae, 16 from Trowbridge who achieved three A*s in art, maths and RE as well as seven A’s and one B.

Katie will continue her studies at John of Gaunt to study A-levels in biology, chemistry, Spanish and psychology.

She said: “My results were better than expected, I’m really really happy.”

Another top achiever was Heidi Budden, 16 from Trowbridge who gained 4 A*s in maths, chemistry, Spanish and geography.

She will stay at the school to study A-level maths, English literature, Spanish and history.

She said: “I’m really relieved I did a lot better than expected. My family are really happy, there were some tears but everyone was really relieved.”
