The Great Bulkington Railway took passengers for a wet ride on Monday as station manager Neville Boulton drove visitors around on three miniature trains for charity.

The event, which normally draws a crowd of more than 200, saw only 50 people turn up to have a ride on the 1,000ft long railway track which Mr Boulton and his wife, Thelma, built in their garden at their home in Mill Lane, Bulkington.

Mrs Boulton said: “It went very well indeed but the weather was dreadful. We had a choir of 22 and that went very well but there weren’t many people here. We took half of what we normally do.”

On the day Mr Boulton collected £60 and caterers took £70 with the money going towards various charities.
