A woman who lied to police investigating a serious assault in Trowbridge has been warned she could be jailed.
Malgorzata Gilewska, 20, pleaded guilty to a charge of perverting the course of justice when she appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday.
Gilewska admitted she made false statements to Wiltshire Police between Sunday, July 6, and Sunday, July 20.
Tessa Hingston, prosecuting, said the matter is linked to the case of Dawid Majewski, who is charged with assault.
Judge Tim Mousley QC adjourned the hearing and released Gilewska, formerly of Ashmead, Trowbridge, but now of Feltham Drive, Frome, on bail.
He said she would face sentence following the trial of the man accused of using the violence.
The judge told her: "You have pleaded guilty to a serious offence which means that all sentencing options will be open to the judge who sentences you and that includes a prison sentence, be in no doubt of that."
Majewski, 25, of Ashmead, Trowbridge, is due to enter a plea next month after being accused of assaulting Kamil Zlobecki, 23, in Trowbridge town centre.
The defendant, who was remanded in custody last month, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to the alleged incident in the early hours of July 6.
It is said an incident took place between 4am and 5am in both Ushers Court and Conigre Square in Trowbridge.
