Re-enactment groups, drummers and street entertainers followed an 18th century theme at Warminster Festival Street Fair on Saturday.
Warminster mayor Andrew Davis opened the fair, which saw the high street closed, allowing the group of soldiers to march up and down, discharging their weapons.
Street entertainers were dressed in period costume, while traders set up stalls to one side of the road. Music was provided by The Full Motley and the Military Wives Choir.
The event kicked off Warminster Festival, which features poetry, music, drama, art, storytelling, history and dance.
Barry Mole, chairman of Warminster Festival, said: “It was phenomenally successful. We had good crowds and there was a lovely atmosphere.
“This is about bringing everyone together. It is a community event, something for the locals to do for themselves and enjoy themselves. It is a celebration about what is good about the town.”
