The landlord of the Swan Hotel, in Bradford on Avon, is due to enter a Dragons’ Den-style studio on Monday, to pitch a new idea to Greene King Pubs.

James Sullivan-Tailyour, of The Swan, and poet Dawn Gorman will present their plan to put poetry into pubs and hope Greene King Pubs, to which they are affiliated, pick up the idea for implementation in its pubs across the country.

More than 80 businesses submitted their ideas to the Greene King scheme and the top seven projects were chosen to enter the den and present their plans.

Mr Sullivan-Tailyour said he hoped their idea would be picked up and added that, if it was accepted, it could lead to a trail of pubs offering pints and poetry.

He said: “The trail idea has been very successful. We’ve had the pumpkin trail and the Santa trail and it is becoming a popular thing for people to do; almost a treasure hunt.”

Greene King Pubs will let The Swan know if its idea has been accepted after the event.
