An art student at Dauntsey’s School is holding an art exhibition in Shalbourne Village Hall in the new year to raise money for a local charity.

Tamzin Howard, 17, is a second year A-level student at the West Lavington school and has decided to hold the exhibition in her home village after taking part in various charity events at school.

Money raised will go to the Shalbourne Community Fund along with the Shalbourne Pavilion Appeal, which is raising £200,000 for a new sports pavilion.

Miss Howard said: “I thought it would be a good way of raising money for local charities and the new sports pavilion.

“I have five artists signed up so far although it would be great if I could raise that to 10.”

The exhibition will be from 2.30pm-5.30pm on Sunday, January 11, with exhibits to be dropped off at the village hall the night before at 6pm.

Miss Howard, who has been a weekly boarder at Dauntsey’s since she was 13, is looking to get artists of all ages to exhibit their work and is hoping to exhibit some of her own paintings.

She also plans to have a cake stall, hot drinks and other refreshments.

Entry will be £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children with all proceeds, including 15 per cent from any art sales, going to charity.
