CORAL Cove soft play centre in Devizes is closed until at least the end of January as staff are fed up with the amount of children having potty training ‘accidents’.

The children’s indoor soft play centre, on Hopton Industrial Estate, has been closed since Saturday after three accidents in a week, resulting in a deep clean being necessary.

Some parents are unhappy as they have annual tickets or gift vouchers that they believe they are unable to use.

Natasha Brooks, nursery manager at Coral Cove, said: “The cleaning has now taken place but we are remaining closed to the public as we are fed up of the abuse we were getting from parents. Children are not being supervised properly.

“Any parents with annual passes are being given the option of a full refund and if people want to book in to use gift vouchers then they can.”

Party bookings are still being taken and booked parties will still go ahead.

In a statement online the owners said: “We regularly deep clean the soft play area as a matter of course.

“However, we have to add in additional cleans when children have accidents, and three times in one week is excessive, when looking at the additional costs involved.”

Many parents have vented their frustration on the centre’s Facebook page.

Tammy Zalek said: “This is such sad news. My children love Coral Cove and I have to say we are regular visitors and I cannot fault the staff or the cleanliness.”

James Thomas Wells said: “My wife and I are very sad about this, especially having recently discovered your facility. This seems like an ill-thought-out knee-jerk reaction to me.”

The company has said that all employees still have their jobs and it hopes to reopen soon.

Treasured Tots nursery and Fantasy Island after-school club on the same site are unaffected.
