TOWN councillors were out in Stonebridge Meadow yesterday to encourage dog owners to pick up their pets’ poo.
The ‘reminder day’ was part of Action for the River Kennet’s ongoing Bag It and Bin It campaign.
Dog walkers were offered bags to help them clear up after their pooches as well as being handed information leaflets from Keep Britain Tidy and The Dog’s Trust.
ARK’s Stonebridge project officer Anna Forbes said: “There are health as well as legal implications and it is unpleasant for everyone.”
Posters have been put up around Stonebridge asking owners to pick up after their dogs.
The campaign has also been supported by Riverside Veterinary Centre, The Guild of Dog Trainers, North Wessex Downs AONB and Wiltshire Council.
