FORMER Doctor Who actors and super marionettes from shows such as Thunderbirds will be among the attractions at Sci-Fi Southwest, which is taking place at Trowbridge Civic Centre this weekend.

The show will feature appearances from the sixth Doctor Who Colin Baker and the legendary Tardis, as well as his sidekick Nicola Bryant, who played his American companion Perpugillum Brown, on Sunday.

Thunderbirds voice actors Shane Rimmer, David Graham and Matt Zimmerman will also appear at the event on Saturday, along with a full cast of puppet characters from the many shows produced by Gerry Anderson.

It is the first time Trowbridge has hosted the show and to celebrate The Shires Shopping Centre and Castle Place ran a scavenger hunt competition to find hidden Daleks, with winners Tina Russell and Danny Underwood winning tickets to the convention.

Trowbridge Town Council’s direct services supervisor Carl Triggs said: “This is the first convention we have held in Trowbridge, although it has previously been held in Corsham and Melksham.

“It will be a huge event for the town and if it works this time, then it can only get bigger and better. We have loads of props from major TV shows, including the Tardis from Doctor Who.

“We also have former Doctor Who Colin Baker coming, plus some of his companions. There will be a chance to get signed merchandise and when else would you be able to do that?

“We ran the competition in conjunction with Castle Place and The Shires, with each shopping centre having five Daleks that where hiding in shops. Everyone is now looking forward to the start of the event.”
