Early indications look good for both a newborn baby and her mother who dumped her in a wheelie bin, according to Wiltshire police and social services.
The miracle newborn, who has been named Tanya, has come back from the dead twice after being dumped by her teenage mum on Friday night.
Police searching for what they thought would be a baby's body found tiny Tanya alive despite spending hours in the bin in North Bradley.
When they found her she started moving and crying and officers rushed her and her 19-year-old mum to the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
Then paramedics declared Tanya dead on arrival , but she was resuscitated and both mum and baby are now said to be doing well and bonding, although Tanya is still in intensive care.
It is thought Tanya's teenage mother didn't realise she was pregnant and was so panicked when she gave birth that she wrapped Tanya in a blanket and placed her in the bin, believeing she was dead.
It is understood when her parents returned home, they immediately knew something was wrong and called paramedics and police. Officers found the baby early the next morning.
Both mum and baby are now said to be bonding and coming to terms with what has happened
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police confirmed officers had discovered a newborn baby and said they are liaising with social services to care for the family.
Wiltshire County Council's social services boss Jeremy Fletcher said: "Against all the odds Tanya is now making good progress but is not yet fit to be discharged from hospital.
"(Her mother) has also bonded well with the baby and I consider that there is very good prospect of her being successfully rehabilitated to her mother's care with the support of the family, who are fully committed to caring for the baby."
A police spokesman added: "Wiltshire Police are working in conjunction with its partners in other agencies to ensure the mother and the child receive the best possible care for the welfare of both of them for the future."
