THE swinging 60s were revived at Wiltshire College Trowbridge yesterday as hairdressing students showed off their talents.
The annual hairdressing competition challenged the students to compete in nine categories, including day and evening styles, colour enhancement and cut and blow-dry skills.
This year there were also themed categories including cover girl and the 60s.
Each round was judged by experts from the industry and the winning stylists were presented with prizes including professional hair stylists' scissors, sponsored by Wella and worth £200, curling tongs and straighteners in a ceremony on Wednesday evening.
Kay Poole, hairdressing programme leader at the college, who hosted the event, said: "This year we've introduced some themed categories to give students the chance to research styles.
"It's the students' chance to showcase their talents. We also have a lot of employers who come along. I think the students have really enjoyed it. There were mixed feelings at the beginning because they were very nervous but as soon as they're on the floor they can't wait to do it again."
More than 200 students, including those who study part-time as part of Modern Apprenticeships, took part.
