WOODFALLS Concert Brass Band is celebrating after reaching the national finals of the Brass Band Championships.
The band took part in the West of England's first section competition in Torquay on March 10, performing The Wayfarer: Sinfonietta for Brass Band by Eric Ball.
They had drawn the final playing place and had to wait until 7pm to perform.
But under the baton of their musical director, Steve Dunster, they produced a performance deemed worthy of second place by the adjudicators.
Woodfalls Concert Brass, which was formed in 1976, will now go to Harrogate in September to compete against the top two bands from seven other regions to be named National First Section Champions.
Playing at the regional competition two years ago, the band was placed second in the second section competition, and then achieved third place at the national finals, gaining promotion to the first section, but then had a disappointing result last year.
This year, they worked hard on their piece for the regional competition and hope to excel in September.
You can see the band in concert next at Salisbury Arts Centre on April 28.
