THE Easter bunny was spotted racing down Commercial Road yesterday as Natwest staff celebrated their successful 1,000 egg drive with a day of cracking fun.

All round good-egg and branch manager, Emma Kayser, donned a rabbit onesie and nose to be pushed in a straw-filled trolley along the town centre street, encouraging businesses to donate eggs and buy raffle tickets as she passed.

Revealing she picked up her costume for £10 in the sales, Emma said: “I’m really excited to get out there, it’s been a great day so far and I’m up for anything."

Nail art, face-painting, a cake sale and a raffle were also on the agenda together with a visit from a chick, an Easter parcel and global celebrity Olaf from Frozen – all in aid of Helen and Douglas House Children’s hospice.

The day of fundraising rounded off an egg-cellent week for the banking giant which smashed their 1,000-egg target, gathering 1,141 eggs for disadvantaged children.

Organiser and customer service officer Jane Stanley said that the general public have been excellent in showing support.

“I’m just overwhelmed with the level of support we have been given, even the postman dropped off eggs to us this morning," she said.

“Friends and family of the staff have shown us their generosity too. My colleague’s husband asked for eggs at work and he donated one hundred eggs which is amazing.”

The Easter eggs were donated to good causes including Rowdy Bunch, a youth group for disabled children, playgroup Koalas which provides support for children with special needs and the Great Western Hospital.

Town businesses also stepped up to the plate with Morrison’s in Regent’s Circus and Morris Owen Accountants in Old Town donating to the drive.
