GESTURES of good will are going to be scattered around Bradford on Avon today (May 1) thanks to the kind floral donations by the town’s District Flower Club.

The group, made up of 42 florists, will see over nearly 50 “lonely bouquets” be left in various places for local residents and visitors to pick up and enjoy.

The event is part of the National Association of Flower Arrangement Society (NAFAS) which aims to bring attention to the charitable work done by flower clubs across the country on National Flower Arranging day.

Rosemary Stevens, former chairman of the group said that she hopes the bouquets will promote the flower industry and attract new members to join the club as the aim is to brighten someone’s day.

She added: “We have left them in places where they can be picked up and we have included our details just in case it inspires new members to join. It would even be great if they called us to say how grateful they were for the bouquet.”

The bouquets are scattered on park benches, shop doorsteps, well-known landmarks and surprise locations around the town and surrounding villages.

Mrs Stevens added that it is through such good will gestures that have brought the club closer and they would welcome any other green-fingered flowering enthusiasts to join in their social occasions.

Nationally, a total of 60,000 bouquets will be scattered in towns and cities today and people who have picked up a bouquet are being encouraged to post a photo of it on social media by using the hashtag #nafasthelonelybouquet.
