Concert guitarist, Richard Durrant, is back on his bike for another cycling gig tour.

Bach on a Bicycle is the barefoot guitar maestro's second tour, up and down the highways and byways of the UK, performing at various venues and carrying his instruments, light show, amps and equipment on his bike.

This spring Richard is cycling from Sussex to the Isle of Skye playing in theatres, art centres, halls, churches, schools and bicycle workshops, including the village hall in Purton on Sunday, May 17.

Richard will be performing Bach's Chaconne and his own Cycling Music for guitar. He has also brought along his ukulele to play more Bach classics. Richard produced The Secret of Life by The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain and is something of a uke expert.

The tour, Cycling Music Lap 2, is in aid of the Cycling Defence Fund, a charity which defends the rights of cyclists and gives them advice and legal assistance.

Richard is riding an Aurelius Colombus Zoma road bike that was built by Marek Aurelius specially for Richard's tour.

The guitarist is no stranger to Swindon, performing a candlelit Christmas concert at the Arts Centre last November and making a guest appearance at the finale of the 21st anniversary of the Swindon Festival of Literature.

Richard is a classical guitarist and much in demand from orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic, but he is also just as much at home playing in a rock concert.

He studied at the Royal College of Music in London and funded his tuition by busking in the London underground.

He is known for playing in bare feet and his debut recital was at the Purcell Room, Southbank Centre, London in 1986.

He was born in Brighton and has been inducted into the town's Walk of Fame, where he has his own interactive paving slab!

The guitarist's last tour covered 1,500 miles starting and finishing in Shoreham in aid of the Big C drop-in centre for cancer patients in Norfolk. Richard, and his friend and manager Sean Semington, even pushed their bikes up Glastonbury Tor. The venture was featured on ITV's Cycle Show.
