FANS of Paolo Nutini poured out of the singer's gig at the Oasis in disgust last night.
The Scottish musician, whose album These Streets' has gone platinum, was branded a joke for his performance.
While some fans stayed to the end and cheered him on many had left after just three songs, saying he appeared to be more than a little tipsy.
By the time the evening got to the point where it would be customary to call for an encore those that were left could barely be bothered.
One girl had gone with her mum as a 16th birthday treat.
"I offered for her to see McFly," said her mum.
"But she said no, Paolo' and now she is in tears. We were at the front and she said mum I want to leave'.
The girl said: "He's drunk, he sounds like an old woman."
The singer, who in the past has supported A-list stars such as Paul Weller and the Rolling Stones, ambled through his set.
The first bit of banter came three songs in when he congratulated Celtic on winning the Scottish league yesterday.
Many of his fans, some of whom had travelled from as far as Bournemouth, said the only saving grace of the evening was the support act Newton Faulkner.
Sandra Coombes, from Highworth, said: "It was an absolute disgrace. The support act was excellent but my husband said the only reason Paolo had the microphone was to help him stand up.
"We left at about 10pm because we couldn't stick any more.
"His football team won and he was celebrating but if I turned up to work like that I wouldn't have a job because my boss would sack me. It was an embarrassment."
Sacha Stevens and Jenny Bacon had come from Bournemouth but they left early.
Sacha said: "The support act was fantastic but he was a joke. He is taking the mick.
"We have driven all this way and it's disappointing.
"We really like him and his music but I think it was a joke to come on like that."
Even hits like Jenny Don't Be Hasty' and Last Request' could not get the majority of the crowd going.
Sarah Mabbett and her two friends had travelled from Cheltenham for the gig but they too left early.
She said: "We just thought he was drunk and his singing was no good, you couldn't understand him.
"His album's good, we've just said we're going to go home and listen to that."
Catherine Rolls, who drove from Bicester and also left early, said: "We have been here since 6pm queueing.
"We waited for ages and we couldn't even hear what he was singing.
"We listened about half an hour and we're going home now.
"We're very disappointed."
Sarah Wright and Andy Bent, from Calne, were amongst the disappointed people who streamed out.
Andy said: "We go to see a live gig every month, we've been doing that for about two years and that has got to be the worst I have ever seen.
"I would have been happier if the support had stayed on. It was shocking."
Tina Lewis from Pinehurst said: "We were talking to people in the crowd and everyone says his album sounds completely different.
"He's under the influence and it's embarrassing."
Bernice Whelan, from Eldene, added: "I actually thought the first act, who was someone I don't know, was much better.
"Paolo just seems to be out of his head. Because I saw the first guy that made up for it, he was worth seeing but Paolo was a joke."

I am horrified at some of these comments! Paolo was wonderful. Any true fan who has seen him more than once, would know he performs like this. he has an extremely strong scottish accent- not something we should slate for not understanding, don't be so closed minded Swindon! and he holds the microphone like that everytime, maybe its how he gets in his zone! Don't criticise how someone performs its just plain rude! Plus maybe he's a bit shy and doesn't want to look at 3000 ugly bonces staring at him! I have seen him 3 times now and would go again and again. Newton was amazing, but different style you cannot compare. But if you actually appreciate Paolo and his music you would know this is his peforming style and you would not criticise. He is 19 years old for goodness sake, he is entiled to have a drink, rock stars like oasis have done much worse-and are massive. he wasnt falling over just enjoying himself and perfomring the songs he has passionately written. Get over yourselves-those who can criticise someone, who has done so well at such a young age need to get a life. If your going to a gig, don't go just because its local, go because your a fan, its a insult to the artist if not! and if you were a fan you would know last night was amazing. So ashamed that Swindon would respond this way. Shame on you evening advertiser, never buying you again!

Paolo's performance was TERRIBLE!!!! He started so bad. He staggered on stage, missed several lyrics on the first song and went downhill until about the last few songs where he managed to stand upright. He still wasnt at his best....far from it. Anyone that says he was good obviously was only there to scream like a little girl as they fancy him or completely tone deaf and blind. I think his management need a word. For an up and coming star this is one way to loose a record deal. I am sure he lost alot of fans last night. Newton Faulkner was FANTASTIC. What a musician!

Support act - great. Paolo was difficult to understand when he spoke but I assumed that was his accent. I cannot believe if someone is supposed to be that drunk they can play a guitar so I feel the comments posted have been harsh and do little to promote live music coming to Swindon. My issue is with the Oasis - the heat was unbearable - why could they not keep the doors open whilst we were waiting. I saw two people carried out by stweards and was amazed more people did not suffer from heat exhaustion. We should not have been made to stand in those conditions for that long. If the audience was muted (and I don't think we were) it was because we were too hot to dance. Finally, I am a professional business person and have had to attend a meeting this morning with an indelible stamp on my hand which I cannot get off - the stamp was not used at the McFly concert. Oasis needs to improve as they will miss a great opportunity to bring in a lucrative income stream and give pleasure to local music lovers.

I had an amazing veiw of Paolo and i didnt see him fall over once, maybe that was when i looked away, although i doubt it very much. He may have had a bit to drink but he knew what he was doing and it dont not affect his proformance one bit! And as for the people that left after three songs . . . what is the point in paying to go to a gig if your going to leave because he looked a bit tipsy?! From where i was, it looked like the crowd were really enjoying the proformance. The atmosphere was amazing and at no point did i hear some one say that they were not having a good time or thought that his proformance was disapointing. I recorded most of the proformance on my phone and digi cam so if people do ask me what the concert was really like, ill give them my opinion and ill be able to back it up with footage. The review was totally bias and does nothing to promote the oasis or encourage musical acts to proform there in the future. Considering Paolos only 19 years old, he has amazing talent and has done extreamly well for himself. Id like too see all those people putting him down get up on that stage and give a proformance like he did to over three thousand people. People in glass houses ect. I Understand people felt dissapointed that he was under the influence of alcohol and what not, yet like i said.. im not too sure what people were expecting?? Next time at least you'll all know and we wont get any moaners that felt they wasted their money on something they probabally wasnt ready for.. Support Newton Faulker Was Top Too.. Overall Was A LUSH Night :D:D..No Complaints, and also after when we met him he seemed more than happy to wait and sign autographs.. which is more than others that have appeared at the oasis have done.. they are only happy to stay for a short while and leave their dissapinted fans?? He came across generally happy and pleased to meet fans and pose for photos. Same time again next year guys of swindon.. fingers crossed!
