THE motorcyclist who died following a double fatal road traffic collision on the A36 last week has been formally identified.

Steven Lillywhite, 49, of Fisherton De La Mere, Warminster, died last Wednesday.

He was travelling south from Warminster towards Salisbury on a Suzuki motorbike, when he collided with a Toyota which was entering the A36 from the High Street, Codford junction.

The driver of the Toyota, a 61-year-old man, also died at the scene.

The family of Mr Lillywhite, who was a tyre fitter, have paid tribute to him in a statement, saying: “Steven was a much loved brother and uncle who will be sadly missed.

“He had a passion for motorcycles and nothing made him happier than being on two wheels.”

An inquest into his death will be opened and adjourned.

The crash came just over a week after the deaths of Westbury’s Philip Butler, 61, and Jennifer Jones, 28, on the A36 near Crockerton when the Ford Mustang they were travelling in collided with a lorry.

Anyone who witnessed the collision who has not already made contact with police, should do so by calling 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously if preferred.
