CYCLISTS are being warned of a major route being closed to allow for work to be carried out.

The Mannington-Blagrove Cycle Path is set to close between Monday, August 24, and Sunday, October 4, to allow for cabling work to be carried out.

The work is in connection with the Wroughton solar farm.

“The Mannington to Blagrove footway and cycle track, which runs between the Mannington retail park and Frankland Road in Blagrove, will be completely closed,” said a spokesman for Swindon Travel Choices.

“During this time a diversion will operate using the subways underneath Great Western Way via Toothill Park and Bodiam Drive. The diversion is short and won’t take you far out of your way, but does involve a hill.”

Cyclists travelling eastwards, towards Mannington retail park, should turn left and pass under the Toothill subway, travel through Toothill Park and onwards via Bodium Drive.

From there, they should drop on to the Great Western Way.

The diversion is simply reversed for those heading eastwards on the track.

The work will be carried out by Modus Utlities and will see the path closed to cyclists around the clock, the spokesman added.
