BARRY Corr could yet ride to Town's promotion rescue with Paul Sturrock refusing to rule out the striker out of Saturday's League Two finale against the Saddlers.

However, four other regulars are also struggling with doubts over Christian Roberts, Lee Peacock, Michael Pook and Ashley Westwood. All have yet to train this week.

A small fracture in the back looked to have put paid to Corr's season but the manager will leave it until the last possible moment before making a decision.

What could sway Sturrock is the fact that although 90 minutes work would aggravate the problem and extend the recovery time, there is no risk of causing huge damage to the striker (right).

He said: "Barry has had a scan and there is a small fracture and I didn't feel it was right for him to play at Bristol Rovers.

"It could have been very easy for me to be selfish and not think of the individual.

"A week's gone by and I've got another decision to make again, I'll be led by the medical department.

"If he plays (against Walsall) there's nothing serious going to happen to him but obviously it would take longer for it to heal.

"The opinions of the medical team will be vitally important to the decision made by myself and Barry.

"He has a long-term career and I have to think of him.

"Again, we will sit down at the end of the week and determine whether we take the chance or we don't. It'll be left right up to kick off time."

Not that Corr is the manager's only injury concern.

Roberts (groin), Peacock (hamstring), Michael Pook (groin) and Ashley Westwood (thigh) are far from 100 per cent fit.

And Sturrock wants them all back in action by Thursday or they face missing out against the Saddlers.

He said: "We've got several injuries, two or three boys haven't trained yet.

"It's important by Thursday that we get everybody back on the training ground.

"They're hopeful of training on Thursday and they'll need to if I'm going to pick them.

"I've made my thoughts plain this week that if anyone doesn't train thursday they will not be involved (on Saturday)."

Town's final reserve outing of the campaign takes place this evening when they entertain Bristol Rovers (7pm).

Striker Jon Maine is likely to be invited back to Town for another run out.

The Tonbridge Angels forward, who has hit 34 goals in 38 starts this season, played in Monday's 1-1 reserve draw with Exeter City at Hunts Copse.

Manager Paul Sturrock said: "It was a player recommended to us and an opportunity to have a wee look.

"I think we'll have another wee look."
