SUPER subs could have a vital role to play against Walsall on Saturday as manager Paul Sturrock prescribes a big dose of attacking football to combat collective tension.

And the manager's message to his players has been a simple one in the build up do you want to work another week or another four weeks?' Town only need a point to secure promotion but Sturrock, pictured left, has no intention of adopting a safety first policy.

That isn't to say it will be a care-free approach but the boss sees no point and no benefit in creating a sense of Town clinging on'.

While a goalless draw would do the job for Town, it looks unlikely to materialise.

Sturrock said: "I think we'll take the 4-3 route rather than the 1-0.

"We have got to go and have a go and we'll have a go on Saturday.

"We'll be open but how would you like us to shut up shop, play 4-5-1 sit on a 0-0 and lose a goal in the last minute?

"I don't feel there's any way that fans should get to see that apprehension in our game.

"Let's be the Cavaliers for a change instead of the Roundheads."

Sturrock expects the goals to be flying in at MK Dons with both goal difference and goals scored potentially vital.

He wants a high tempo performance from his own side and that could mean tiring legs towards the end.

If that proves the case, he is warning his substitutes to be ready to seize their chance - and possible glory.

Sturrock said: "It's attack, attack, attack. Get the ball in the box, make people make mistakes "Do our job defensively unit and use our bench because we'll tire.

"If we're going to play that up and down' football we're going to have fit laddies on the bench."

And if supporters could take some time out to perform a rain dance or two in the next 48 hours, then Sturrock will be eternally grateful.

Barry Corr's back and Lee Peacock's suspect hamstring are not aided by a bone hard pitch so a drop of water or two would be appreciated.

Sturrock said: "I'd love to think we'd have a deluge through the night over the next couple of days.

"But if we don't we'll make sure the deluge is coming out of our sprinkler system.

"It's for the simple reason we don't want this pitch to be fiery, and enable us to at least put a rhythm to our game."
